A Sun Prairie-based small business started just last year is giving back to mental health organizations, WMTV15 reports. Melissa Loerke Hagan owns Mental Threads, a handmade looming business that creates hats, dog and cat toys, emotional support items and more.

Loerke Hagan donated 40% of her sales to nonprofit Active Minds in 2024. The organization provides mental health education and resources to children and young adults.

Mental Threads retails its products on Etsy and in-person at area craft fairs and events. It is set to be a vendor at the Fort Atkinson Farmers Market on June 5.
