Governor Scott Walker’s proposed $6.1 billion transportation budget calls for a continuation of the Verona Road expansion project in Madison and continued expansion of U.S. Interstate 39–90 through Dane and Rock counties, although reconstruction of the interchange with the Madison Beltline is not part of the plan.

If the budget is approved as is, the Milwaukee area would receive a transportation blow because the Governor has chosen to cut funding of I-94 around the city by $293 million compared to his previous plan.

Walker’s budget would also phase out the prevailing wage requirement for state-funded construction projects, according to the Wisconsin State Journal.
