Madison organizations are ramping up the call for food to those in need as SNAP benefits remain unpaid, and a contingency funding plan is set to only fund November with 35% less than normal.

Mount Zion Baptist Church is hosting a food drive in partnership with local chapters of the Divine Nine Greek organizations through Nov. 9, but the church accepts donations year-round and has a food pantry open each day of the year.

Dane County announced an emergency food drive last week, asking for donations to the volunteer-run Badger Prairie Needs Network or local food bank. Any Dane County government building is also accepting food donations. Badger Prairie Needs Network said in a statement to FOX 47 that it had 100% more visitors compared to the same time period last year.
