Nonprofit Waunakee Food for Kidz, which works to provide food for those in need across Dane County and the globe, will hold its annual packing event at Dane Manufacturing, 500 S. Division St., on Oct. 20, according to the Waunakee Tribune. The new, larger location will allow for expanded packaging capacity going forward.
The packing event, which includes music, dancing, and more, was formerly held at Waunakee Community High School. It is set this year to have nearly 1,000 community volunteers, with more opportunities available here. Businesses and other groups are invited to become table sponsors and/or provide a donation as well.
The organization has set a goal of packaging 300,000 meals and raising $60,000 — a 50% increase from last year. Waunakee Food for Kidz will provide meals to Dane County food pantries, Haitian orphanages, and Ukrainian refugees via Wisconsin-based nonprofit Orphan Grain Train.
