United Way of Dane County is doing its best to meet food and fuel needs for Dane County Regional Airport TSA workers who have been without pay for over 40 days during a partial government shutdown.
The hospitality industry and local support agencies have provided food to TSA workers, but United Way of Dane County has launched an imitative to help unpaid federal workers.
The initiative helps them to purchase food and fuel by purchasing Kwik Trip gift cards for more than 100 TSA workers.
“Our TSA officers are not just federal employees, they are members of our community who show up every day to keep travelers safe and our airport running smoothly. They are part of what makes Dane County Regional Airport such a welcoming and easy place to travel through,” Dane County Executive Melissa Agard said in a statement. “In this moment, it is inspiring to see our local hospitality community stepping up to support them and their families. That spirit of care and connection is what defines Dane County.”
Donations can be made online.
Any leftover unused funds will be contributed to Dane County food banks and pantries.
