The Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development (DWD) announced the release of the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) estimates of unemployment and employment statistics for Wisconsin metropolitan areas, major cities, and counties for August 2022.
The non-seasonally adjusted data for Wisconsin shows that unemployment rates decreased in all 12 of Wisconsin’s metro areas over the year and 11 of the 12 areas decreased or stayed the same over the month. The Madison metro area tied with La Crosse-Onalaska metro area for the lowest unemployment rate, at just 2.5%. Unemployment rates decreased or stayed the same in 34 of Wisconsin’s 35 largest cities over the year and the month. At the county level, unemployment rates decreased or stayed the same in 66 of 72 Wisconsin counties over the year and decreased or stayed the same in 63 of 72 Wisconsin counties over the month.
