Marshall-based Overlook Investigative Group LLC has launched Hidden Camera Checked Location, the first recognition and accountability program for hidden camera inspections, according to a release from the company. The program provides a way for the public to know if random hidden camera inspections are conducted at any location. Participating locations can display a unique emblem on the main entrance doorways to communicate to customers and occupants of the space. The program seeks to catch criminals who profit from private images illegally obtained by hidden cameras placed in restrooms, showers, locker rooms, and bedrooms. Hidden cameras are often concealed in smoke alarms, garment hooks, USB chargers, alarm clocks, pens, vents, and virtually any object with a pinhead-sized viewing area. A market survey by the company identified 73% of respondents have a growing concern that their privacy will be violated by hidden cameras in areas such as public restrooms, hotel and motel rooms, rest areas along interstates, short-term vacation rentals, and fitness centers.
