Local breweries win at national beer competition

Three Madison breweries have won top honors at the 2022 Great American Beer Festival competition in Denver, Colorado, according to a Wisconsin State Journal report. Working Draft Beer Co. took home the top honor of a gold medal in the German-style Doppelbock or Eisbock beer style category for its Klosterade, a German-style Doppelbock. Great Dane Brewing Co. received a bronze medal in the German-style Maerzen category for its Great Dane Oktoberfest. This was Great Dane’s fourth win at the competition for its Oktoberfest beer. Giant Jones Brewing Co. won the bronze medal in the Other Strong Beer category, beating out 69 other entries with its Doppelsticke Altbier. The Great American Beer Festival is the largest commercial beer competition in the United States.
