A Cap Times analysis of state ethics disclosures found that companies, interest groups and others spent over $47 million on lobbying Wisconsin lawmakers in 2025 — the highest amount in 10 years.
Among the top 10 lobbying spenders were repeats like Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce, the Wisconsin Hospital Association and Wisconsin Property Taxpayers Inc., but last year food-delivery service DoorDash far outspent others.
The company, based in San Francisco, spent over $2 million and 250 hours lobbying Wisconsin lawmakers, reporting that it spent almost half of its money and time supporting a proposal to exclude gig workers from minimum wage laws and workers’ compensation insurance.
That proposal was approved by the GOP-controlled Legislature but vetoed by Democratic Gov. Tony Evers.
The national Sports Betting Alliance ranked 20th among spenders last year at $263,000. It reportedly spent all of its efforts lobbying against legislation that would legalize sports betting through Wisconsin tribal nations.
That legislation passed the Legislature and now awaits Evers’ sign-off or veto.
