Nonprofit broadcaster WisconsinEye might be coming back thanks to bipartisan backing in the legislature, Wisconsin Public Radio reports.
WisconsinEye could not raise enough funds for its 2026 operating budget to keep the cameras rolling, pausing its operations and shuttering 30,000 hours of archived footage.
The organization has provided televised access to legislative floor sessions, committee hearings and more for over 18 years.
And now, it could come back.
Legislation proposed Thursday would establish an endowment for WisconsinEye, while requiring the nonprofit network to still fundraise.
Assembly Speaker Robin Vos, R-Rochester, and Assembly Minority Leader, Greta Neubauer, D-Racine, said they will introduce the bill soon.
