CUNA Mutual Group has made a $1.5 million donation to the Madison Public Market, according to an announcement from the Madison Public Market Foundation. That donation along with $4.5 million secured through a new TIF district closes the $5.2 million gap needed to fund the project.

Plans for the market were temporarily shelved in August 2022 because of rising construction costs and a lack of grant funds, but the establishment of a new TIF district on Madison’s east side in November gave the project new life.

CUNA Mutual Group’s gift will support the creation of a proposed food innovation facility. To be known as TruStage MarketReady Hall, the facility will be located within the Public Market for entrepreneurs who dream of growing their food-based business.
