The Dane County Farmers’ Market’s Late Winter Market, kicking off this Saturday at Garver Feed Mill, will add 12 more vendors this year in additional rented space at the venue, the Wisconsin State Journal reports. The move will expand customers’ options for locally grown winter produce.
From Jan. 4–April 5, the market will run each Saturday from 8 a.m.–noon and feature 52 vendors selected from a pool of roughly 70. Last year’s market hosted 40 vendors per week. Market products will include seasonal fruits and vegetables, cheeses, honey and maple syrups, baked goods, and local meats. The market also offers SNAP/EBT services for customers with FoodShare benefits.
Throughout the winter, the market is also offering Madison’s only free food scrap compost, provided by Green Box Compost. Community members can bring food scraps in their own containers and leave them in a bin by the information booth.
