Lane’s Bakery, a 69-year-old family business, is set to close at noon on Christmas Eve, according to the Wisconsin State Journal. Its owners, Chuck Lane and his wife, Becky, put the bakery on the market in February and continue to seek a buyer.

The business, excluding the property, was originally listed for $490,000, but that number has been reduced to $320,000 — essentially the value of the equipment. The purchase price includes Lane’s name, all recipes, and six months of on-site training from Chuck Lane for potential new owners. No deals have yet been reached.

Lane’s is known for its kringle statewide and previously shipped items across the country, stopping last year due to staffing issues. The bakery has seen intense demand over the past month, selling 120 kringles per day and running out by 10:30 a.m.

Since 1954, Lane’s has been operating almost continuously, with a brief gap when Chuck Lane closed Lane’s Bakery and Gifts at 448 Park St. in 2012, reopening it as Lane’s Bakery & Coffee at 2304 S. Park St. in 2013.
