The owners of Lane’s Bakery on 2304 S. Park St. in Madison will be selling the nearly 70-year-old business later this year, according to a report from Channel3000.
The news is bittersweet for Chuck Lane, who took over the family business almost four decades ago.
“It’s been a fun run, but it’s been 40 years and it’s time to slow down a little bit, change pace, and try something different,” Lane said. “It’s the good and bad. I feel sad about it, but on the other hand, I’m thinking we’ve done a good job. I would just love to see somebody come in here and take over.”
Lane’s Bakery’s lease expires at the end of the year.
