Rumors have been swirling for years, but now Sears chairman Eddie Lampert has publicly acknowledged that the company is evaluating whether to sell Dodgeville-based Lands’ End as well as its Sears Auto Centers as part of a plan to bolster Sears’ financial standing. If Lands’ End is spun off, it could become a standalone, publicly traded company for the first time in more than a decade.
