Dodgeville-based Lands’ End has reported lower fourth quarter earnings compared to the same quarter in 2013. The results were in part related to a recall of 25 styles of children’s sleepwear that were found not to comply with federal flammability standards. The sleepwear was made in China and sold online and through the Lands’ End Kids catalogs.
In the company’s 2014 fiscal fourth quarter, which ended Jan. 30, sales fell 4.9% to $504.6 million compared to the same period in 2013, when sales were $530.4 million. Net income fell 28% year-over-year to $33.1 million, with earnings falling 28.5% from $1.44 to $1.03 per share.
The product recall cost the company about $3.4 million in revenue.
