Lands’ End has furloughed approximately 70 percent of its corporate employees and nearly 100 percent of its retail employees since March 28, according to a post on its website.

In an update on its COVID-19 response, which has included temporary salary reductions, the Dodgeville-based retailer says that some personnel executing critical tasks will return to work on April 14. For many employees, the furlough will remain in effect through at least May 1, a date that is in line with the federal government’s and the State of Wisconsin’s current timeline for the continuation of social distancing.

Lands’ End also says it plans to fund health insurance premiums for employees while they are furloughed.

The company’s 26 U.S. stores, which closed on March 16, will remain closed until further notice, but it’s still engaging in ecommerce. Jerome Griffith, CEO and president of Lands’ End, says the company’s website remains open 24/7 and its Wisconsin-based distribution centers remain operational.
