The Madison Landmarks Commission has approved a three-story, 22,000-square-foot building on the corner of Monroe and Glenway streets, despite concerns from the owners of the Arbor House bed and breakfast next door and the Dudgeon Monroe Neighborhood Association. Part of their concern is that the new structure would affect the historic integrity of the 161-year-old building that is now part of the Arbor House. In its heyday, that building was known as the Plough Inn, a favorite watering hole for soldiers.

The project must still be approved by the Plan Commission.
