Landmark Services Cooperative of Cottage Grove has broken ground on a new grain-loading facility on 188 acres in Fall River. Scheduled for completion in 2014, the new facility will hold up to 4.6 million bushels of grain. Farmers will be able to store and market the grain when it makes the most economic sense for their operation. The facility will also include a rail system allowing rail cars to be loaded directly, saving on shipping and loading costs.
This is the second such facility in the state. The first, in Evansville, was built in 2002 and is also owned by Landmark Services Cooperative.
