Labor unions raise funds for political education program

The South Central Federation of Labor’s Committee on Political Education will hold its 64th Annual Bean Feed on May 20 from 6-7:15 p.m.  

The fundraiser efforts help support the organization’s political education program and will take place at the Madison Labor Temple at 1602 S. Park St. in Room 201. 

A $10 ticket, purchased at the door, is good for a hot dog, SCFL beans and more  

Vegetarian and vegan options are available. Those who attend can also meet with prolabor elected officials.

“It’s a time to join union members, allies and elected officials for an informal dinner at the Madison Labor Temple,” SCFL President Kevin Gundlach said in a statement. “Not only is this an evening of comradery and solidarity, but it’s also a longstanding tradition that helps us continue to advocate for the working class through political education.   

This fall will be the most important election in the last 15 years for labor unions and the working class: starting with restoring collective bargaining rights, prevailing wages and more.
