The Wisconsin Public Service Commission gave final approval Wednesday to a high-voltage transmission line from Minnesota to the La Crosse area.
The 48-mile segment will cross the Mississippi River from the Rochester, Minn., area to west of Alma and then go south to the Holmen area, at an updated cost of $211 million. That is $9 million higher than the original estimate of $202 million, because the PSC modified the route to avoid planned development in the Holmen area.
