Kwik Trip in late fall paid $14.1 million for 151 acres of empty farm field in DeForest that may soon house a distribution center for the convenience store company, according to the Wisconsin State Journal.

The spot is located in the southwest quadrant of the intersection between Highways 51 and 19. Kwik Trip is in talks with the village about using 60 of those acres to build a distribution center with the capacity to serve 350 stores. The other 91 acres may be considered for future development.

The proposed development is a piece of a larger, statewide expansion. Kwik Trip plans to invest $151.3 million or more and add at least 559 new jobs by September 2027. That would net the company $15 million in WEDC Enterprise Zone tax credits.

Kwik Trip has submitted a rezoning request for the DeForest land, which village officials will take up at the April 8 village board meeting.
