Menomonee Falls-based Kohl’s Corp. on Tuesday reported fiscal fourth-quarter results that exceeded analysts’ expectations, the Wisconsin State Journal reports, but the company also slashed its 2025 sales and profit projections.
The retailer reported:
-
Profit of $48 million, or 43 cents per share in the fourth quarter;
-
Earnings that, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, came to 95 cents per share — up from the 72 cents per share expected;
-
Quarterly revenue of $5.4 billion — above the $5.35 billion anticipated; and
-
Profit of $109 million, or 98 cents per share, on revenue of $16.22 billion for all of 2024.
The company has joined Macy’s, Walmart, and Target in pulling back its expectations in light of U.S. inflation and fears over tariffs and a possible recession. It expects 2025 comparable store sales to drop 4-6%, compared with estimates for a 0.9% drop. Earnings per share is anticipated in the range of 10-60 cents, compared to estimates of $1.23.
Retail veteran Ashley Buchanan, the CEO of Michaels, will take over as Kohl’s CEO next week.
