Several members of the local Madtown Mannish Boys band are planning to buy the shuttered Knuckle Down Saloon with intentions to renovate and reopen the bar under a new name, according to a Wisconsin State Journal report. The members of the Madison blues band will keep the music format the same and change the name of the bar, at 2513 Seiferth Road, to Red Rooster. The new owners are Jesse Steinberg, Paul Schwoerer, Tim Payne, and Dan Resnick. Resnick will be a silent partner in the business. They will update the bathrooms to make them ADA compliant and add a glass garage door on one side of the building, where they’ll have a deck built for a future beer garden. The group also has plans to continue to serve food at the location. Chris Kalmbach, the former owner of the business, closed it in March 2020.
