Kikkoman Foods Inc. — a subsidiary of Tokyo’s Kikkoman Corp. — announced two separate donations totaling $5 million last week to UW–Madison and UW–Milwaukee, the BizTimes reports.

UW–Madison’s College of Agricultural and Life Sciences will receive $3 million; the funds will support two CALS programs, the Wisconsin Integrated Cropping System Trial and Grassland 2.0. UW–Milwaukee’s School of Freshwater Science will receive $2 million.

Kikkoman made the announcement during a celebration of its Walworth plant’s 50th anniversary. The donations aim to support research that will protect the resources that initially brought Kikkoman to Wisconsin.
