Furniture maker KI expects to have its $3.3 million plant expansion completed by June, according to a report in the Green Bay Press Gazette.

The expansion will add 100,200 square feet of space at the Bellevue plant, enabling KI to consolidate and streamline its shipping, receiving, and warehousing, the report said. The company now has two other plants nearby in Bonduel and Manitowoc, and a leased warehouse five miles from the Bellevue facility.

CEO Dick Resch said the employee base in Bellevue is expected to grow as the company attempts to expand its market share. Under the current timetable, the expansion would be completed as KI’s production intensifies to meet demand from institutional customers like schools and colleges as they prepare for the 2012-13 academic year.

Overall, the company employs about 1,700 people in Wisconsin and in facilities located in India and Australia.
