Dane County’s third largest nursing home closed May 2.

Karmenta Center, 4502 Milwaukee St., was a 105-bed nursing home and the 11th Wisconsin nursing home to either close or announce a closure this year, according to LeadingAge Wisconsin in a Wisconsin State Journalreport. No specific reason for the closing was noted.

Dane County has 17 other nursing homes, including the largest, SSM Health St. Mary’s Care Center with 187 beds, and Badger Prairie Health Center in Verona, with 120 beds. Many, including Attic Angels’ nursing facility, are converting from nursing homes to assisted-living facilities.
