The Midcontinent Independent System Operator selected Kansas City-based Transource Energy and Illinois-based Viridon Midcontinent to build two southeastern Wisconsin transmission line projects.
One project is about 188 miles long, featuring a 765-kilovolt transmission line located in southwestern Wisconsin. It begins in the village of Bell Center and runs to the Illinois border. The other project runs for about 106 miles, and features a 345-kilovolt transmission line in southeastern Wisconsin.Â
“These projects will play a critical role in enabling the energy transition while maintaining reliability and providing economic value for decades to come,” Jeremiah Doner, MISO’s director of cost allocation and competitive transmission, said in a statement.
