The Unity Health Plan suit challenging the name of Meriter Health Services’ new partner, UnityPoint Health, has temporarily swung in Unity Health’s favor, although U.S. District Judge William Conley said the case remains extremely close. Conley ruled that the use of the word “Unity” must temporarily be halted as a standalone in any UnityPoint marketing within Unity Health Plan’s 20-county service territory. The lawsuit from Unity Health Plan claims that UnityPoint’s use of the word “Unity” will create confusion. Meriter plans to add UnityPoint to its name.
