Dane County Circuit Judge Jacob Frost has issued a temporary injunction halting the state’s fall wolf hunt, according to an Associated Press report. The hunt was scheduled to begin on Nov. 6. Advocacy groups filed a lawsuit in August that argued that holding the hunt would be unconstitutional. The lawsuit stated, among other things, that the season is illegal because the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources hasn’t updated its regulations and has been relying on an emergency rule put in place in 2012. The DNR’s wolf management plan hasn’t been updated since 2007.
