Two separate city committees are recommending two different proposals for Judge Doyle Square in downtown Madison.

According to a Wisconsin State Journalreport, a city negotiating team earlier announced its preference of a $40 million project from Stone House Development (37 affordable apartments out of 159 total), while the Madison Finance Committee recommends a $52 million plan from Gebhardt Development, primarily because it offers more affordable housing units (78 of 196 apartments).

The City Council is scheduled to weigh in at its June 11 meeting.
