In January, Journey Mental Health Center is set to close its doors as Columbia County undergoes a transition in mental health service providers in Portage, according to a report from NBC15.
Columbia County’s Community Support Program (CSP) is a 24-hour service catering to individuals grappling with mental health conditions such as schizophrenia, depression, and bipolar disorder.
According to Stephanie Nickel, the Columbia County division administrator of behavioral health, the county has decided to discontinue its contract with Journey Mental Health, leading to the shift of CSP services to a new provider, The Pauquette Center, located at 2901 Hunters Trail.
Journey Mental Health Chief Clinical Officer Nichole Wright cited financial considerations as the primary factor in the decision to part ways.
The closure of Journey’s facility in Portage is scheduled for Jan. 31, 2024.
In an effort to facilitate a smooth transition, both the nonprofit organization and the county have expressed their commitment to collaborative efforts during this period of change.
