An amendment by U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson to replace Columbus Day with a new Juneteenth holiday has been withdrawn, according to a Wisconsin State Journal report.

Johnson wanted to offset the cost of adding an additional holiday but now has introduced a proposal to reduce paid leave time for federal employees in order to offset the costs.
