With the Sam’s Club on Madison’s far west side closing, the Wisconsin State Journalreports that Michael Johnson, president and CEO of the Boys & Girls Club of Dane County, has asked Arkansas-based Walmart, which owns the Sam’s franchise, to consider donating the 106,000-square-foot Madison building to his nonprofit so it can be converted into a sports and regional job-training facility.
Making a lead donation toward the effort would be welcome, too, Johnson suggested.
