Johnson Controls, based in Glendale, is closing its Milwaukee Business Center and laying off 277 workers. The layoffs will begin in late January 2016 and continue through the end of June 2016. The majority of the positions being cut are in accounting and finance.

In September, Johnson Controls announced it was cutting 2.5% of its global workforce, or about 3,000 workers, in an effort to save $250 million annually. The company said at that time that some of the affected jobs could be in Milwaukee.

Johnson Controls has roughly 130,000 employees around the world, including 3,400 in the Milwaukee area. The company provides products and services for the automotive, building, and energy storage industries.
