A special city committee has recommended that the City of Madison continue negotiations with JDS Development on the Judge Doyle Square redevelopment project downtown. If for some reason the city cannot reach an agreement with JDS, it could move on to the Journeyman Group’s plan. The recommendation must now be approved by the City Council.
The committee thanked both groups for the work they did and the innovative ideas they presented over the past 17 months but felt the JDS plan offered more vision and creativity, and put more equity into the project, according to a report in the Wisconsin State Journal.
Meanwhile, frustrated representatives from the Journeyman Group of Austin, which had presented an alternate plan, claimed the process had failed.
