Rasta Barista, a new Jamaican coffee shop on Madison’s south side, will host its first-ever Jerk & Jollof Rice Cookoff Competition at the Black Business Hub, 2352 S. Park St., on Sept. 27, Madison365 reports.

The competition will feature recipes from the Caribbean and West Africa and consist of four categories — jerk chicken/pork, jollof, side dish and dessert. Local chefs, amateur cooks and cultural ambassadors will share their recipes and stories.

Proceeds from the cookoff will benefit Youth Empowerment Initiatives Inc., a local nonprofit that provides post-secondary education for at-risk youth, creates employment opportunities in agriculture and promotes self-sufficiency.

Contestants will have access to a commercial kitchen space. The competition begins at 1 p.m. on the Hub’s fourth floor.
