The inaugural “Determination to Succeed Back to School Summit” will take place on Saturday, Aug. 17 at Capital High School on Regent Street, according to Madison365. It will be hosted by Jamaal Eubanks, founder of Pivotal Transition, a community organization that mentors youth aged 8–19 and looks to support young Black people and their families.
Eubanks previously developed the Determination to Succeed program, which has been contracted by area schools. The August summit aims to provide Black students with tools, teaching them to self-reflect, set goals, and pursue their dreams.
There will be two workshops, a morning and an afternoon session, with 20 boys participating in each. There will also be a DJ, lunch, and a panel of individuals sharing local success stories.
The summit will run from 9 a.m.–4 p.m. Registration opens June 3. Sponsorship opportunities are available.
