In-person winter celebrations planned

The Wisconsin Union’s annual Winter Carnival will return to an in-person format Feb. 7–12, 2022, at Memorial Union, and the Wisconsin Alumni Association’s Winter Carnival Family Fun will return to Alumni Park on Feb. 12, 2022. The Wisconsin Union’s 80-year-old Winter Carnival tradition includes a variety of events and activities for Wisconsin Union members and guests. In 2021, the events took place in-person and virtually due to COVID-19. This year, the Wisconsin Union anticipates holding Winter Carnival fully in person, bringing back events such as the freestyle skiing and snowboarding contest Rail Jam; the Snow Ball food and dance event; and a built-to-scale, inflatable replica of the Statue of Liberty’s head, arm, and torch on frozen Lake Mendota.
