WEA Trust, the Madison-based nonprofit that provides health insurance plans for state employees, has invested $1 million in Fitchburg-based startup Kiio to help people with lower back pain, according to the Wisconsin State Journal.
Kiio has developed a wireless sensor that measures muscle strength and endurance, and WEA Trust has signed a three-year agreement with the company to help patients avoid surgery or unnecessary medication related to back issues.
