IKEA announced that it will be opening its second store in Wisconsin in Madison this fall.
The store will be in the Prairie Towne Center at 215 Junction Road where a Bed Bath & Beyond previously stood.
The new IKEA store will be approximately 54,000 square feet, sell 3,000 items like lighting and small furniture and offer its signature Swedish deli known for its Swedish meatballs.
“At IKEA, we believe that a better everyday life starts at home — and that means making shopping IKEA easy and convenient,” Rob Olson, interim CEO at IKEA U.S., said in a statement. “Opening a new location in Madison is part of our continued commitment to reaching customers where they are, making well-designed, affordable home furnishing solutions more accessible and convenient than ever before.”
Madison shoppers can receive online orders from IKEA at the University Book Store on State Street and the University Book Store Distribution Center on the Beltline Highway. There is no update on whether or not that will continue once the store opens.
IKEA’s other Wisconsin store is located in Oak Creek, south of Milwaukee.
