Smoky’s Club, a 69-year-old supper club, is closing and will be replaced by a five-story apartment building at the site, according to a Wisconsin State Journal report. The landmark steakhouse restaurant, open since 1953, will close on Feb. 28. The new project by Flad Development & Investment Corp. could begin construction as early as May 2022 and be open by mid-2023. The plan currently included 59 apartments with enclosed parking on the first level and 1,500 square feet of commercial space along University Avenue.
