Dubuque, Iowa-based Woodward Communications Inc. (WCI), the parent company of In Business Madison, on Wednesday successfully completed the acquisition of Mid-West Family radio group in Springfield, Illinois. The acquisition included four radio stations (WNNS-FM, WQLZ-FM, WMAY-FM and WMAY-AM) from Mid-West Family that serve the Springfield marketplace.

Last October, WCI acquired four radio stations (WXAJ-FM, WFMB-FM, WCVS-FM and WFMB-AM) from Neuhoff Media that also serve the Springfield marketplace, with the ultimate goal of merging the Neuoff and Mid-West Family operations. To comply with FCC ownership rules, WCI needed to divest WCVS-FM, so that transaction was also successfully completed.

Prior to completing the Mid-West Family acquisition, management developed a comprehensive merger plan. That plan is now being implemented, and over a period of time, all of the stations and related operations will be relocated into Mid-West Family’s current office and studios. WCI will also make several station and format changes.
