Madison-based Ian’s Pizza, which already has locations in Milwaukee and Denver, is now expanding its operation to Seattle to take over the site of another pizza restaurant that reportedly closed due to the city’s $15 minimum wage raise.

According to the Capitol Hill Seattle Blog, Zpizza closed after the city announced plans to raise its minimum wage to $15. However, the wage increase is actually the reason why Ian’s is making the westward move.

“It feels more like the right thing to do to respect service workers and what they do,” Ian’s co-owner Brandon Stottler told the Seattle blog.

The new restaurant, Ian’s Pizza on the Hill, will open in Seattle this October.
