Humana Inc. will be discontinuing major individual major medical health plans in Wisconsin, Alabama, Kansas, and Virginia, according to ACASignups.net. The insurer may also be targeting Nevada and Tennessee.
The Louisville-based health insurer sent a letter to Wisconsin’s Office of the Commissioner of Insurance announcing the change.
The cancelation will affect just over 6,600 enrollees who will be given a 180-day notice of policy termination. Current plan members will be encouraged to seek other insurance alternatives, including those sold on the Affordable Care Act exchange. All policies will be discontinued as of Dec. 31.
