As of May 1, Canada will no longer purchase milk from dozens of family farmers across the state, creating a financial crisis for them because they’ve got nowhere to go with the milk they’re producing.

In a release from the Department of Agriculture, Trade, and Consumer Protection, secretary Ben Brancel says consumers can help these families by:

  • Buying Wisconsin dairy products to help provide a market for the milk produced by the state’s dairy farms.
  • Donate Wisconsin dairy products to a local food bank. The impacted dairy families suggest donating five products.
  • Donate to the Great American Milk Drive, which provides vouchers to needy families for the purchase of milk. Vouchers are distributed statewide through the Feeding America/Second Harvest infrastructure. Donate online at https://milklife.com/give.
