According to CNBC, house sales in December were up and higher than analyst expectations across the U.S.
There were 1.18 million housing units available for sale at the end of December, down 18% from November, and the median price of homes sold in December was $405,400, up 0.4% from a year earlier.
Sales overall for homes in December rose to 4.35 million units, a 5.1% increase from November, according to the National Associate of Realtors.
This was 2% higher than analyst estimates.
Once adjusted for seasonal factors, December was the strongest month for sales in about three years.
