The Hmong Institute is hosting the annual Hmong Heritage Dinner on Friday, May 3, from 5:30–9 p.m. at Monona Terrace in Madison to recognize Asian month. The dinner is the organization’s premier fundraising event and celebrates the achievements of the Hmong and Southeast Asian community.

At the event, The Hmong Institute will recognize County Executive Joe Parisi for his years of public service and support for the Hmong and Southeast Asian community.

The Heritage Dinner helps raise funds to support the work of The Hmong Institute’s Hmoob Kaj Siab program, a holistic day program that provides bilingual and bicultural case management and mental health support to Hmong, Lao, Khmer, Tibetan, and Nepali elders; youth programs such as an intergenerational child care center and the Hmong Language and Culture Enrichment Program; and the food distribution program that provides food security to over 450 families in Dane County.

Attendees can participate in a silent auction including Hmong and Lao arts, clothes, textiles, and more. There will also be cultural performances by youth groups and elders, including a fashion show, traditional dance and music performances, and a Hmong-inspired dinner.
