Groundwater at two former firefighter training areas at the Madison airport has revealed high levels of hazardous PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances), according to a Wisconsin State Journal report. The PFAS were found at levels thousands of times higher than recommended health standards.
This week, Gov. Tony Evers announced the release of the Wisconsin PFAS Action Council’s PFAS Action Plan, which includes 25 action items centered around three guiding principles — environmental justice, health equity, and pollution prevention — for addressing the hazardous chemicals.Â
