The Wisconsin state Supreme Court reversed a lower-court decision and will allow four golf pros to sue the city of Madison after their abrupt firings in 2012.
According to the Wisconsin State Journal, the court’s decision allows the pros to pursue unfair business practice suits against the city. In 2012, the city fired the long-time golf pros at all four of its courses — Odana Hills, Yahara Hills, Monona, and Glenway, in favor of its decision to have one golf professional and several assistant golf pros run the courses. The city also unionized concession workers.
The golfers charge they were terminated without good cause and without adequate notice.
The case was remanded to Dane County’s Circuit Court.
